Inland Forest Management, Inc. provides coordination and supervision for the Wildland Urban Interface Fire Mitigation Program for Boundary, Kootenai, and Benewah Counties, Idaho.
These programs are designed to help private property owners reduce the risk to life and property from the threat of wildfire by creating defensible space around homes and businesses. Lowering the risk of wildfire is accomplished by reducing forest fuels near and adjacent to dwellings. Specific work may include thinning of small trees, cutting brush and pruning. These improvements are generally completed at no cost to the landowner. These programs are part of the National Fire Plan legislation and utilizes federal grant money to complete the projects.
